CIPC 7.0

Does the new version of IP Communicator support + dialing?

Comments

  • Hello Canigula,

Unfortunately there is not a version of CIPC that currently supports + dialing. Cisco has stated that it will, but the version or release time is still unknown. Cisco Unified Personal Communicator supports the + character, however not in the same sense for directory based calling that a 3rd generation hard IP phone will.

  • Will I be able to see the + in the missed calls directory (even if the dialing doesn't work)???

Do you have any phones on your racks that support + dialing?

  • Only Gen 3 hardphones (7941, 42, 7961, 62, and up) support + dialing.
Currently we have these in our classroom (exclusively), however not in the racks.

  • Is this going to change anytime soon (phones on the racks)?

  • Hello,

At the present time, the phones connected to the racks will be left as 7960's as the basic configuration to be performed is related to simple network infrastructure such as DHCP that will affect these devices. The recommend approach is to use hardphones at your remote location through a VPN connection, so that you can accurately test each of the call routing scenarios and features.
