I was reading some articles about MGCP configuration and I found that E1 CAS(R2), that is the most used here in my country (Brazil) is not supported when using MGCP, does anyone know why?
Thanks in advice,
You are correct, E1 CAS is not supported by CUCM and MGCP due to the channel split configuration it uses, which has never been supported by Cisco. H.323 is recommended in place of MGCP.
Hope this helps
Thank you for the answer, is there any docummentation about it online?
Thank you in advice,
Cisco has very limited documentation on the subject. You can reference this document linked below, which does cover CAS MGCP configuration. But does not explicitly cover the reasoning for the lack of E1 support. Simply states that it is not supported.
You may also want to reference the Gateways and Gatekeepers Cisco Press book, which covers MGCP/CAS theory.
The other reason i could thing is R2 is country specific and it is higly unlikely that the cisco will ever make the application for all the country
