IP Multicast

6.3 - question is specific to source 150.x.6.6 and group 224.6.6.6.  Shouldn't this require PIM SSM?

!

interface Ethernet0/0

 ip pim sparse-mode

 ip igmp static-group 224.6.6.6 source 150.1.6.6

!

Note that with SSM, there is no RP and PIM register packets.

I think because of this requirement, we cannot use dense mode, but will require SSM in AS200.

  • The requirement indicates the router(s) should never send a register message.

A register message is only seen with PIM SM as you need to register with the RP.

On a dense mode, router(s) never send a join / register message - they only send a prune message as soon as they determine they have no members for X group.
