Hi, does anyone know how to find ATA186 on R2 router? I used 'show cdp neighbor' but I only found IP Phone. I saw a description on int fa0/1/3 & int status is up but still cannot detect ATA186. Any clue to find & detect this ATA? thanks for reply.
By default CDP should be working fine; maybe there is manual configuration and CDP is disabled.
As far as I remember by default ATA takes IP address from DHCP, so if DHCP server is running on R2 you can check:
show ip dhcp binding
to see IP addresses allocated to various end devices connected to your router. You can check MAC address on ATA (I think there is label with MAC) and verify the IP allocated to ATA and access via GUI if needed. Check parameter OpFlag, bit 6 (more info here - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cata/186_188/2_15_ms/english/administration/guide/mgcp/mgcpaape.html#wp1023823)
Knowing MAC address you can verify port where is ATA connected using command
sh mac address-table
You can always start with factory defaults; reset procedure - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cata/186_188/2_15_ms/english/administration/guide/mgcp/mgcpach3.html#wp1059798
The ATA186 is quite buggy, and routinely goes into a frozen state, and will not appear to CDP. It requires a manual reset with an analog phone connected to it. If you experience this issue again, please use the active rack ticketing system to send in a support ticket. For the actual lab, the configuration of the ATA is quite minimal.
