EIGRP route manipulation (offset-list Vs Distance)

Hi,

 

for changing internal eigrp path selection (D) , does it make any difference to use offset-list or distance ? (when you are receiving the same route from 2 sources)

 

Do below statements are the same in the outcome : (imagine the odd routes need to be given higher AD/Metric so the router chosses the other eigrp path)

 

Offset list 10 in 1111111111 <int X>

or

Distance 220 X.X.X.X 0.0.0.0 10

 

****Access-list 10 permit 0.0.1.0 255.255.254.255

  • Well, what order happens?

    First the EIGRP RIB will make a choice (based on metrics, source, origin, stuff like that) and hand it to the routing table.

    The routing table will then make a choice between all the options it has (based on AD)

    Soo...  Which is best?  :) 
     (Answer - it depends on what you want to accomplish!)

    Actually I was doing VOL-2-Lab-18 Section 4.3 , I wonder if we could fix that section with distance.

    In the answer , it's been done with offset-list , I was curious to know if we could use AD instead.
