EIGRP max Hops

When EIGRP is enabled, the largest possible width
is increased to 100 hops, and the metric is large enough to support
thousands of hops.

unable to understand last wording stating that large enuf to support thounsands of hops?

    Default EIGRP hop count is 100. You can increase it to a maximum of 255.

    RIP has a limitation on hops because its metric is not intelligent enough.

    EIGRP's metric is much more intelligent and does not impose such restrictions/ limitations. The sentence you are refering to, is just highlighting this point.
