Dynamic L3 VPNs - mGRE Tunnels

mGRE seems to be an important topic for SP LAB.

To test I have implemented in my lab (using Vol2 - Lab9 - R1/R2) - but had to change IOS from 12.2S to 12.0S

Is it possible to implement this feature on any other IOS other than 12.0-33.S?  (12.4T or other)

  • If you can't implement it using 12.2S or 12.3T it can't be tested on the lab.

  • This topic gets a lot of concern (as it doesnt seem to be supported in 12.2S only 12.0S).

Under the tunnel interfaces for 12.3T and 12.2S all I can see is 'tunnel mode gre multipoint' but no further (i.e. no 'tunnel mode gre multipoint l3vpn')

Has anyone got mGRE to work using only this command on the tunnel without the l3vpn option?

I assume that this means mGRE is not possible to be tested on in the CCIE SP lab but have red the same posts in the past whereby individuals claim this has come up on the real lab exam.
