  • I'm of two minds on this question:   technically, only a map from R1->R5 and R2->R5 is required, since a later task has you setup point-to-multipoint OSPF across the frame cloud, which makes R1 and R2 reachable via R5 without frame maps to themselves.

    Then again, that's what I configured on the lab and I lost points for not having a static mapping from R1<->R2 on each. 

    Personally, I think that it's the end result that matters (reachability), but I'd probably end up asking the proctor in the real exam.

    I had the same config as packetslave, and I agree with everything you said, Unfortunately I was also marked wrong.   I decided to find out what the correct config was!.  This is the comment that the grader left for me

    "R2's IP address should've been manually mapped on R1. R5's IP address should've been mapped via INARP" 

     

    So I labbed it up and this is the only working solution that I could come up with.

    Remember R5 is the hub,   R1 is limited to 1 frame map statement, and no constraints on R2.   The frame inverse-arp interval statement was to speed things up.  Using the following configuration Both R5 and R1 succesfully mapped each other via INARP.   If a  "Frame map ip 10.1.1.1 501 broad" is put on R5 the setup stops working as R5 seems to no longer generate an INARP message so R1 never maps R5.
