OSPF as a PE-CE

hi,

 

I am trying to run the OPSF on two different CE sites of same AS MPLS VPN scenario, both the OSPF Process at the PEs having the same Process id, but any how I am not able to get the updates of each other site's, so what are the issue should be there? I can see the VPNv4 routes on each PE routers for their connected custormer as well as the remote customers under "sh ip bgp vpnv4 all".

    Check your route-target import/export policy.  Are they showing up in
    the VRF table of the PE, or just the VPNv4 table?

    VRF rt configuration is same on both the sites!!! they are in vrf table aslo, I dont know why its not advertising to appropriate CEs!

    Hi Dev,



    I have not seen your configs. However please can you type the “domain-id 1.1.1.1” or any number of your choice under “one” 1 of the vrf router ospf processes. I am assuming ospf is blocking due to the same process id.



    Your brief description is not to clear. So I may be wrong here :-( Or be a good man and post your applicable configs.

    Issue got resolved by putting OSPF domain id one PE!!! but as far as i know, domain-id is used for controlling the LSA genration right!!! then how OSPF domain-id worked with my scenario?

    In a nutshell OSPF is receiving somes route with it's own "ospf domain" so it will block it in order to prevent what it thinks is a loop. By changing the domain-id you then imply you are a totally different domain so the route/routes are allowed in. I see it as the same as eigrp when you receive a route with your own router-id it is dropped.

    As for the domain-tag my understanding is that it will allow an ospf "IA" route to become an "o" route when you have different ospf processes.

    I discovered it by chance while diverting one of the IE labs :-)

    Perhaps Brian has a better explanation.
