I need help with my GNS3

For some reason I cannot get GNS3 to work. I have downloaded it and it will run the first time with no issues. I am using my local loopback as its "server". When I close out of the app and try to reopen it, it will say that the "target machine actively refuses it." does anybody know why this happens every time? I can uninstall everything and reinstall it and it will work just fine. I tried different servers but all seem to "actively refuse" it. I checked my antivirus and my firewall and they both are allowed.

  • Most probably its firewall issue, what you mean by Loopback as server?

  • Are you using your local machine or installing it as a remote server using the vm? or something else? The setup of your GNS3 installation isn't very clear to me.
Certainly have a look at their documentation site:

  • if you mean by local loopback 127.x.x.x, then this will not work. The truth is yo must access GNS3 VM using its pre-configured IP address.

Here is a full guide on how to install and run GNS3 VM.

I did make sure that it was allowable through my firewall. GNS3 can use you loopback address on your computer as its server instead of routing a different direction

Thank you, I will try this out. I tried 3 or 4 times to use the free vm, but no success. I will uninstall/reinstall and give it another go. I just dont understand how it will work for the first time on my local machine and then when I close and reopen it doesn't work.
