Task 1.6 Redistribution

Hi All,

What's the point of the TAG 4110 and 3110 in section 1.6 for OSPF going into RIP?

The solution states for R3 and R4:

route-map OSPF_INTO_RIP_REDISTRIBUTION deny 10
 match tag 190
route-map OSPF_INTO_RIP_REDISTRIBUTION permit 20
 set tag 3110

We set the tag going into RIP, but we don't filter on it anywhere that I can see so it seems like just extra unneed config to me.  Or is it just added for consistency?

Thank you,

James

  • Hi James
I think its need to filter out for optimal routing path and also prevent routing loop

On router R5 point of view R3 & R4 has OSPF and R5 also has EIGRP
so R5 will decide the packet destined to EIGRP's external network go through R3 or R4 instead of directly go through R8 if you haven't filter out EIGRP route while you are redistribution into RIP from OSPF because EIGRP had external route AD is 170 and OSPF is 110

    Thanks

    Thanks,
