OSPF EXTERNAL SUMMARAIZATION. ( ADVANCED TECH.LABS)

FRIENDS,

What is the different between these two configurations?

======================

route-map TEST per 10

match interface loo 100

match interface loo 200

set metric 50

router ospf 1

redistribute connected route-map TEST subnets

redistribute connected route-map TEST subnets metric 50

Comments

  • With the route-map metric you can also change the metric for another route-map statement on a per route-map entry (prefix) basis.

    When using the metric 50 on the redistribute command it will set the metric for all prefixes (that are not matched and set a specific metric in the route-map).

    So with the redistribute metric it will set the metric as a default to 50 instead of the normal 20. You can also set the default to 50 and for another specific route-map (permit 20) entry for loopback100 to 100. If you set a route-map (permit 30) without the match command it will set the metric to 50 for all other connected interfaces.

    It needs to be done this way, because it is allowed to configure 1 redistribute connected config.
