IEWB- Lab 1 - 1.1Vlan Assignments

Hello all,

I was going through the lab on this assignment. On the Vlan assignment, there is a Catalyst Port for -

SW2V28               N/A                N/A                 VLAN_28

SW4V102             N/A                N/A                 VLAN_102

Can someone who has gone through the work book explain how to create these and also explain it a little.

For example, in this lab's diagram, SW4 has an interface labled V102 and its connected to BB2 on a subnet.

Thanks for your assistance

  • They represent the VLAN interfaces(SVI)

    ex.

    int vlan X

  • <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">

To create the vlan itself, on your VTP server simply use
"vlan 102" and name it if you wish.

Once your trunk links are up and the vlan exists on all
devices, you can go to SW4 and use "interface vlan102" in order to set up the
Layer3 information.  I believe you will find that this is already set for
you in the startup configuration though, so the only necessary steps are to
create the vlan in step 1.1 and the trunks in the next couple of
    steps.

    Then magic should happen!  :)

    HTH,

  • is there any other config on the router connected on the same subnet to access the vlan 28 apart from the router interface ip add and subnet mask?

example on SW2, i will have-

    Int Vlan 28

    ip add x.x.x.x 255.255.255.0

    no sh

    on the router- (say BB1)

    int fa0/1

    ip add x.x.x.x 255.255.255.0

    no sh.

do i add any config element here on the router?

    thanks

Well, one would expect that the physical port BB1 is
plugged into (SW2 fa0/24 if memory serves) will need to be placed in access vlan
    28.  Then your trunks need to carry vlan 28.

Follow the flow from point a to point
    b!
