CCIE COLLABORATION HOME LAB

Would like to start a topic regarding creating my own Home Collaboration LAB.

The equipment I have already.

4x 2821's
1x 3560
1x 196GB RAM / 2x Hexadecimal CPU's / 1TB HD / HPZ800 Server (Yes I know a bit overkill)
7x 7965 Phones

Just a couple of questions

1) What Video phones can I use as an alternative to 9971's which are just too expensive (dont say 9951's I know that already)as i will be using them towards the end of my studies when I do remote LAbs.

2) Would 1x 1900 or 2901 really be sufficient to test  DSP PVDM3's Homogenous Video for the Lab?

Thank you!

  • I have four used 9971s with cameras I would be willing to sell (ship within US) that were used for lab prep.

Also have a CUE module. PSTN 3725 with all needed VWICs/DSPs and can include additional VWICS For your 2821s (T1 & E1).  Also have 4 port which switches, and 16 port 2511-rj for a access server.

Remote use of the 99xx phones isn't practical do to their webserver refresh rate.  It will work, but not without issues and slowness.

Personally I would just rent the time for practicing with the PVDM3 module and VCS from INE.  If you are interested it the hardware let me know.

Regardless, good luck and hope you enjoy the journey.

  • Hi UCPenguin,

Thanks for getting back to me, I have all the equipment you mentioned below already, even the AIM module!

The 9971 phones I will just buy local in UK as the tax costs are really expensive from US up to additional 21%.

Could I just ask a quick question would the 9951's be suffiecient for LAB practice or should I just purchase the 9971 to be safe?

So thank you very much for your help, all the best with selling your old hardware!

  • Should be able to get by with the 51s.  No touchscreen, wifi, and a couple less line keys.
