Traffic Engineering w/Stub Areas

I'm following along in the Traffic Engineering w/Stub Areas ATC video, and when I change the cost of the default route originated from R6 into Area 2, I am not seeing the output in the show ip ospf database of "Routing Bit Set on this LSA...." on the LSA from R3

If you look at the video, at 10:51, you see this in the top of the command line after Brian runs "show ip ospf database 0.0.0.0"

My output is below:

R7#show ip ospf data sum 0.0.0.0

OSPF Router with ID (150.1.7.7) (Process ID 1)

Summary Net Link States (Area 2)

What am I missing?

Comments

  • not sure if this helps but I see it on o.o.o.o auto generated by stub area in on a stub router.

"Routing bit set " is missing, it means route cannot be installed in RIB; why? what do u have in routing table or what u have missing?

  • Here's an example: I loaded the basic ospf routing configs, and am working on "OSPF Internal Summarization" in the v5 workbook.

Before I make any changes to the summarization on R5, I run:

    R1#show ip ospf database summary 155.1.8.0 adv-router 150.1.5.5

OSPF Router with ID (150.1.1.1) (Process ID 1)

Summary Net Link States (Area 0)

      LS age: 87

      Options: (No TOS-capability, DC, Upward)

      LS Type: Summary Links(Network)

Link State ID: 155.1.8.0 (summary Network Number)

      Advertising Router: 150.1.5.5

      LS Seq Number: 80000004

      Checksum: 0xB73A

      Length: 28

      Network Mask: /24

            MTID: 0 Metric: 2

In the lab guide, I see this:

    R1#show ip ospf database summary 155.1.8.0 adv-router 150.1.5.5

OSPF Router with ID (150.1.1.1) (Process ID 1)

Summary Net Link States (Area 0)

Routing Bit Set on this LSA in topology Base with MTID 0
      LS age: 96
      Options: (No TOS-capability, DC, Upward)
      LS Type: Summary Links(Network)
Link State ID: 155.1.8.0 (summary Network Number)
      Advertising Router: 150.1.5.5

      Network Mask: /24
            MTID: 0 Metric: 2

I don't see "Routing Bit Set on this LSA" under anything in the database. I vaguely remember hearing someting in one of the videos that certain versions of code will not show "Routing Bit Set on this LSA", but will only show you if it is NOT set with "Advertising Router is not reachable..."

    Can anyone confirm?

    Hi,

I'm running the following version of CSR1000v and I can confirm this is the default behaviour, not showing the "Routing Bit set on this LSA" on LSAa in the OSPF database.

Cisco IOS XE Software, Version 03.11.01.S - Standard Support Release

Cisco IOS Software, CSR1000V Software (X86_64_LINUX_IOSD-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.4(1)S1, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2)

  • Ok, thank you. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't going nuts...
