In task 8.2, it says configure R1 not send ...... out this interface.
Why won't we use traffic shaping?
SG says this,
"The task does not mention the specific rate-limiting method explicitly, so we choose the MQC policer as a more flexible option with respect to configuration."
I saw this statement in solution, but my questions was why we configured policing instead of traffic shaping.
Policing is used for limit inbond traffic and shaping is used for outbound.
In this task, we are requested to limit R1 outbound traffic sine it says "configure R1 so that it dos not send more than 128Kbps of ICMP traffic out this interface.", therefore, we should apply traffic shaping on R1 or policing on SW1, but the solution is configure policing on R1 which doesn't make sense.
Traffic-Shaping is for outbound
Policing can be used for inbound and outbound.
ooh i see, thx joe
The wording also makes me think policing , because it is giving a hard ceiling at 128K for a specific type of traffic.
"... not send more than 128 Kbps of ICMP traffic . . ."
make sense, lots to learn
