multicast 5.2

Despite of what the solution specified i needed to enable the ip pim sparse/dense mode over R5 serial interface.

without it R5 would not be able to establish a neighborship with R3 and obtain RP information.

Can someone confirm please that was a solution mistake?

    Hi,

If you take a look into the solution guide, you may find the link between R3 & R5 has been configured for "sparse-dense mode" denoted by "SD" in the output of " show ip pim interface". Initially, the sparse mode is successful, that's why "show ip pim neighbor" shows only "S".

    Hope you got the point.

    Thanks,

  • Hari to be honest in the initial configs R5 had the interface configured for Sparse dense mode.

So i dont know for what reason after i setup the lab script it disappeared from the interface config.

In fact when i looked through the sh ip pim neigh command i found no neighbors on R5 .

So i think probably was an error i committed while i was setting up the lab configs.

    Thanks for your help
