Cisco CSR1000V and R&S v5
Hi,
Does anyone has some idea if we can use Cisco CSR1000V for the new V5 blue print? I know it takes alot of resources from hardware point view. Just wanted to know if it does support all the listed topics excluding Layer 2 stuff [:)]
Thanks

My understanding is yes. In fact during my R/S boocamp (v4) the instructor (Dave) was buying a server to run esxi and csr1000v's on for his v5 lab use. The only down side to the csr1000v is that you cannot do any type of serial link. The most significant issue there was Frame Relay, but since thats gone the way of the dodo in V5, its probably not such a big deal. You can still do PPPoE to practice ppp features (authentication). So I think it should be a pretty good option.
[Y]. Thanks for the info Mikem.
Yes it will work, but the server requirements are much larger than if you’re running GNS3 or IOU. Like mikem said you can’t do Serial links but that’s basically irrelevant now in the new blueprint.
