MGCP fails to register in Lab 5

Hi,

LAB5 requests both SITEA and B to use MGCP as gateway protocol. The way i usually do this is pretty simple

ccm-manager config server 177.1.10.10

ccm-manager config

mgcp

Then head over to the CUCM and configure what's needed there. It works just fine on SITEA but on SITEB it does not register. The output is always something like -

SITEB(config)#do show ccm-man

MGCP Domain Name: SITEB

And Debug MGCP packet continues in this loop-

As you can see, i already changed the Device name from Branch1 to SITEB just in case there is something strange happening ;) Otherwise, the config is identical to what i configured on R1 (SITEA) and the hardware is identical (2811, VWIC-2MFT-T1).

Any clues?

Comments

  • you should have domain name defined. please double check what is configured on SITEB side and how gateway name is added into CUCM?

if you change hostname on MGCP gateway, make sure that you have the same on CUCM side as well.

  • Yep  but there is no domain name configured anywhere. ;)

normally you set domain name on a router within your company. This will ensure that you can enable SSH later.

can you post your router configuration

  • Thanks for the link, will see if i find anything useful.

Beside having tried it with both domain name and different name, the configs are 100% identical (i think at least, i compared what i could and mgcp related they are identical).

My config works 100% fine on the SITEA router, i never used a Domain name ever in all my labs and it always worked just fine, the solution also never mention to use a domain name so im not sure why that should be an issue now.

This is not about production environment, this is specific to LAB5 INE Workbook.

  • if this is lab, you need to make sure that hostname ( which is the domain id, since you haven't configured it) matches.

If you configure domain name, make sure cucm has hostname.domain name format.

Try to remove gateway in CUCM and add it again.

also post output from show mgcp statistics. It should have TX/RX UDP packets increasing. If either side is empty, it may be network issue.

Check your ACL that you might have at HQ site.
