V4 Workbook Section 2 - initial switch configs

It seems that the initial configs for most of Section 2 in the workbook do not work unless ports f1/0/20 on SW1 and SW2 are enabled and turned into a trunk.  This is the case whether I use the config manager or if I copy and paste the configs myself.

Once I make this change everything works fine.  Is this intentional or an oversight?

Just wondering.

Thanks...

  • This little annoyance is actually the case for pretty much every section i've worked in, even up to Section 7.
I think this stems from them changing their wiring architecture a few months ago, and still not updating their workbook to reflect it 100%.

  • By the way, don't forget to copy your vlans over too.  And if they are using VTP, configure VTP so you get the vlans automatically.

  • Thanks for the tip...I'll just chalk this all up to good troubleshooting experience...
