Configure BGP on all internal devices using AS 100.

for R1

router bgp 100

neighbor 155.1.0.1 remote-as 100
neighbor 155.1.0.2 remote-as 100
neighbor 155.1.0.3 remote-as 100
neighbor 155.1.0.4 remote-as 100
neighbor 155.1.0.5 remote-as 100
neighbor 155.1.146.6 remote-as 100

my issue is with sw1 , sw2 ,sw3 sw4

for exemple SW1 has one fastethernet and three interface vlan ( vl7 , vl67,v79  )

so R1 can peer with fa0/3 or vl7 or vl67 or vl79

neighbor 155.1.37.7 remote-as 100

or

neighbor 155.1.67.7 remote-as 100

or

neighbor 155.1.79.9 remote-as 100

or

neighbor 155.1.7.7  remote-as 100

 

so what interface should I use or interface vlan

need clarification

  • I can't check the topology now but If I remember correctly neighbor 155.1.67.7 remote-as 100 is the correct one.

    my question is why they don't choose neighbor 155.1.7.7 remote-as 100

    or neighbor 155.1.79.7 remote-as 100 or neighbor 155.1.37.7 remote-as 100

    why the choose neighbor via vl67

    take time to answer me.until you will see the topology in order you understand me

  • The answer is you can choose any interface you want, it is up to you. Personally, in real world implementations, iBGP will be peered up using the Loopback interface to provide extra redundancy, should one of the link fails (just like in this situation).

    Bottom line is that you can choose any, in case they don't let you peer using the loopback. I would choose the closest interface.

  • for that task I say I did it and obtain the good show ip bgp summary

    but now I meet another issue that annoy me

    I explain , I am doing the task with gns3 for all the router and switches use the same image

    when I open again my toplogy I receive error messages

    when I try to increase the default ram from 128 to 256 of the image ios

    my gns3 crach it 's close

    my laptop has core i7 with 8 Go RAM.



    and before I remarq the processor increase , I use idle PC to dcrease processor

    but no way

    the issue is related with the image that I meet when I start to work with ibgp peer



    so please show me how to resolve that .

  • When you are working on big topology don't start all routers at once. Start one by one and set idle PC--at least I do like this when I have more than 10 routers in topology.

    the problem of gns 3 annoyed me a lot

    yes I have the habit to open all routers in the same time .

    but even if I open router after router the problem will be the same

    so what I did

    I open the net file

    in RAM I type 256 instead 128

    the error messages go but even that I remark my pourcentage of microprocesor is between 50 to 60 %

    I suspect something that cause that

    other thing

    I remark in BB1 the router eigrp is 10

    and in R6 is eigrp 100

    that will be a mistake

    I will send another post about topology youtube for tomorrow

    to give you the show ip route

    Yes you need to set idle PC on all routers.

    Not all routers one by one, but rather per IOS image by setting the idle pc value in Edit->IOS Images and Hypervisors menu.

    The correct answer is in vol 1 is it doesn't matter.  In other tasks you may be asked explicitly to use certain interfaces. Why? With an iBGP connection the TTL is set to 255 so it's almost irrelevant.  Remember that the interface that you peering sources traffic from and the destination for the peering need to known by an IGP.  How do you know this information? Use show IP cef x.x.x.x or show ip route to see what interface outgoing peering traffic recourses.

    By default eBGP peering use a TTL of 1 so it's revelant to choose the correct addresses i.e on a directly connected link.
