Lab-1, Task 2.3 SW4's MED

Hello,

Without configuring SW4,  the new loopback of R1 will be preferred thru SW4-R5, since SW4's MED is 0 by default witch is less than 200 thru R2-R3.

Question: Is there any reason to configure SW4's MED to 100?

Thanks

  • According to the task's requirements, there is no reason to configure MED for R1's loopback interface on SW4.

    Just my 2 cents.

  • No you can do without setting MED in SW4, but dont forget the next-hop-self on R5 otherwise R3 would still route around the EIGRP domain (AD90).

  • This means configuring SW4's MED is unneeded configs.

    Thanks nextCCIE & batooq

  • Very good comment saleh

I was hitting exactly that point, i configured MED only on R2 to R3 so R5 advertisement was better but with next hop via EIGRP domain. With next-hop-self on R5 traffic goes to R5 Ethernet segment as the question says.
