Issue with ISDN PRI - "network out of order"

Hi All,

I am facing a strange issue with inbound calling into branch2 site from the PSTN. The debug isdn q931 returns a network out of order message. I had earlier entered the wrong switch-type (primary-5ess instead of primary-net5). However, after correcting the error, I still cannot call into the br2 site. See some of my config below maybe I am missing something. I do not think there is anything wrong with the GW config on CUCM because I have checked multiple times.

  • Hello,

Can you please post the incoming dial-peer 101 config? Also the dial-peer you are sending the call to CUCM?

The IOS Troubleshooting Guide says it needs inherent troubleshooting - it happends when TCP socket fails on port 1720 while H.323 gateway wants to talk with CUCM. Have you restarted the gateway & CUCM once? Is there any firewall/router in between which can interrupt this communication path?

Please go through this document: http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Cisco_IOS_Voice_Troubleshooting_and_Monitoring_--_VoIP_Network_Troubleshooting_Using_Cisco_VoIP_Internal_Error_Codes

If still the issue persues then change the IOS if you can rather than spending time for this issue.

  • Hi,

I will take a look at the document you referenced. My rental session is over now and CLI buffer is cleared out so I cannot follow up with the exact setting but I remember how the dial-peers were configured:

Inbound from PSTN was matching a general DP like:

    dial-peer voice 10 pots

    incoming called-number .

    direct-inward-dial

Outbound to CUCM was matching the DP

    dial-peer voice 101 pots

    destination-pattern ^7033...$

    session target ipv4:177.1.10.20

    voice-class h323 1

    voice-class codec 1

    voice class h323 1

    h225 timeout setup 2

    call preserve

    voice class codec 1

    codec pref 1 g711ulaw

    codec pref 2 g729r8

At the CUCM, I had set inbound significant number of digits to 4. I tried reloading the router but did not try restarting the CUCM.

    Thanks.

  • make sure that your interface is correctly mapped to the right interface i.d h323 voip interface src X.X.X.X

  • Hi,

    1. Please follow what mcpasad has recommended, it's important to source the H.323 packet/connection setup message from the right interface.

    2. Try to establish the call without any voice class h323 inside the dial-peer.

    3. At the end, restart the CUCM once.

But I hope the same issue will not reappear on your next session. :)
