N5K to N5K back to back vPC

I know this is a supported config with a 7K pair to a 5K pair.
My question is, is this supported with the North bound pair of 5K’s acting as a L3 core? Would the only theoretical limitation be port density on the North bound 5K pair running at L3?

I know this is not optimal and the many reason why you would use N7K’s at the core, this is more of a theoretical question.

  • Yes it’s supported.  The northbound switch doesn’t know that the southbound switch is a vPC pair, and vice-versa.  Just make sure to use different vPC domain numbers as they’re part the LACP id.
