Unity Connection - wrong Greeting played/mailbox opened

Example - > Jack is Calling Hugo, aka 1001 calling 1002. Once the call is forwarded to VM, id expect the "Sorry, Hugo Reyes is not available". However im hearing my own VM account, so CUC is asking for my Pin.

The CUC - CUCM intergration is done via SIP and works fine (AXL import etc), just that im not reaching other peoples inbox, only the inbox form the person initiating the call because for whatever reason CUC recognizes these calls as Direct Calls and is using the Direct Routing Rules instead of the Forwarding Routing rules which it should use. Any idea why that would be the case?

I have a Route Pattern with 1850 pointing to the SIP Trunk used for CUC which has nothing fancy configured. Im not using any CSS or PT at all in this lab.

  • Further investigating shows the following results -

restarting CUCM and CUC. First i finished the broken SCCP integration. Then tried the call from Jack -> Hugo and it works just fine.

Then i added the SIP integration, assigned Jack to the SIP Phonesystem. Called from Hugo to Jack - just fine!

Now when i delete the SCCP Phonesystem (and use the wizard that is supposed to move all relationships to the SIP based phonesystem) i get the same problem. ;)

So i guess this is a bug in Unity Connection 7.0

  • Hi Falko

I am also new to UC ~ CUCM integration. Based on what I learnt, I do not see integration wizard for SIP in CUCM. The wizard on CUCM only works for SCCP integration to CU/CUC. I suggest to remove all trunk and port associations to phone systems in UC and integrate with CUCM using either SIP or SCCP to the single CUCM cluster you have in the lab.

Based on what you said it seems that SCCP integration is working on both the occasions. Irrespective of what the problem is the CUCM should send the redirecting number (RDNIS) to land in right voicemail box. If the calling phone is also managed by CUCM and has a voice mail box on CUC then the voice messages will notify who left the voice mail message. You need to modify the sip security profile to allow unsolicited notification etc (4 check boxes...).

  • Hi,

the issue isnt or rather wasn't that the integration is not working but it appears that there is a problem with the phonesystem removal wizard in CUC which kinda leaves the CUC in a bad state as it uses the wrong call handler or call routing rules to answer forwarded calls.

The SCCP integrration is not working either IF i add a new skinny based integration and use the wizard to remove the "orignial" phone system that is done by INE as part of the pre-integration. Already tried that so im pretty sure that the problem is somehow related to this wizard but my lab was over so i hadn't had much time to dig deeper.

Just curious if someone else experienced a similar issue using this wizard in CUC.

  • Found a bug entry in the troubleshooting guide.

Will try this the next time this happens.

Voice Mail going to generic Unity Greeting

    Problem

Voice mail is going to a generic Unity greeting.

This issue is likely related to an apparently corrupted search space
entry. For some reason, the partition for a particular site (and the
default partition) is no longer in this main search space. Any attempt
to modify the search space returns an internal error.

    Solution

This issue occurs because the partitionobjectid in the tbl_Handler
database table is not updated by the SA, although the entry in the DTMF
    table is.

There is a partitionObjectID field in tbl_Handler for each user.
Updating the user's partition in the SA does not update this field.
Without removing this field by either manually updating the database or
deleting the user, the partition with objectID displayed in this field
    cannot be deleted.

This CLI command lists aliases which have a partition in the DTMF table that is not correctly updated in the Handler table:

    select s.alias from vw_subscriber s, vw_callhandlerprimary c
    where s.objectid=c.recipient_subscriberobjectid and
    s.partitionobjectid != c.partitionobjectid
  • Final conclusion -

my first attemps were wrong - today i played with it again. SCCP Port Group - working fine. Then Setup SIP version - result as above.

Solution - make sure under the SIP Trunk settings - Outbound calls

Redirecting Diversion Header Delivery - Outbound is checked ;)

As for the above post with sql - i didn't get it to work really. You will have to run it like this

    run sql select s.alias from vw_subscriber s, vw_callhandlerprimary c where s.objectid=c.recipient_subscriberobjectid and s.partitionobjectid != c.partitionobjectid

no linebreaks or anything. However i get an error message that vw_subscriber is not a valid table. Didn't dig much deeper - maybe some CLI-SQL wiz can shed some light onto this.

  • Yes, that'll get you! Thanks for providing the follow-up.

Keep pushing ahead! When are you planning to take your lab?
