How to test used cisco equipment
Gents and Ladies;
a question for you gurus. Can you please tell me what commands must i use to check taht the used cisco gear i am purchasing is working fine. I wish to perform tests like power on self test, checking the ROM code's initilaisation test results etc...
i am getting an INE rack from a re-seller (used equipment) and wish to ensure that i am not ripped.

Basically just if it boots, recognizes all the cards, and all the links come up into up/up state then it’s fine. There’s really no self-diagnostics that you can run to test if everything is functional.

One of the things I almost always do is have the seller give me the output of a boot cycle from power on to prompt. Especially for switches, that should give you a warm and fuzzy about whether the hardware is ok or not.
Honestly, I can't say that I've ever really come across anyone being intetntionally dishonest about the condition of a piece of gear. I've certainly rolled the dice on something that said "unknown condition" and come up snake eyes, but even that is pretty rare (again, in my experience). More often than not, "unknown condition" equates to "I'm the flunky that someone told to get rid of this stack of stuff in the storage closet, I don't know the first thing about Cisco".
If you're buying from a reseller, odds are everything has been powered up, reset to factory defaults, etc. before it was shipped to you, so I wouldn't worry too much. You can always give your business to someone who offers something like a 14-day return policy, or at least exchanges on DOA devices.
Find a way to load a full/partial BGP table into the RIB, so you can access more of the RAM than what system-boot lives in.
Thanks Brian...
May you please share some more information/ persoanl experience with power/wattage requirements for the INE CCIE home lab?
