Mock Lab 4 - Task 1.6 Alternate Solution

Task 1.6
* Configure PPP on the serial connection between R4 and R5
* Do not apply the IP address directly to R4's Serial interface.
* Do not use ip unnumbered or Ethernet bridging to accomplish this task
* Preserve IP routing across the Serial link with your solution

For this task I configured R5 to assign an IP address to R4 via IPCP and I configured RIP on R4 to not verify the update-source.

As far as I can tell, it's in within the guidlines for the task.

I just finished the lab so I'm waiting to see how it's marked.

    Taht sounds direct to me.

How do I apply an IP address directly/Indirectly to an interface:

    1. Directly with the ip address x.x.x.x y.y.y.y [secondary] command

    2. Directly with the ip address dhcp command (DHCP)

    3. Directly with the ip address negotiated  command  (IPCP)

    4. Indirectly with the ip unnumbered command

    5. Indirectly using Vitual template (for PPPoFR)

    6. Indirectly using MFR interface and MFR encapsulation (for PPP using Serial Link)

There are others, but at least one of the last three shlould do the trick

  • Yeah, the more I thought about it, the more I realised I got  it wrong.

    Thanks for your reply.
