This's definitely good news we have been waiting for ! At least we can start with GNS-3 first for initial practice. Thanks for pushing this through !
What is the plan for the rack rental so we can practice IOS XR too ?
Re: [CCIE SP] SPv3 Workbook .net file
Thanks to the entire INE staff for putting this out!
For those of us who had purchased the workbooks prior to (and not passed but lets not talk about that), when will the profiles be updated/access granted to us?
Thanks

Brian,
For studying purposes the differences between IOS-XR and regular IOS are only with the command syntax? Or are there specific technologies which we are not able to do on regular IOS?
I also heard there are the ME switches, which are not emulated on GNS3 either.
Thanks in advance.
Regards!
Re: [CCIE SP] SPv3 Workbook .net file
Can you provide any pricing insight on what a typical SP rack rental session would run token wise?

SPv3 sessions will be 4 hours long and be somewhere around 50 tokens per session I believe. More concrete information will be available later this week or early next week about them.

Hi
I am also geting the same error. Is there any resolution for this.
Brian
I modified the working directory, image directory but still get the error.
workingdir = C:<GNS.net>
image = C:<IOS>
AndiS
Did you try building your own .net file with routers running that image and see if they work? You may want to cross post this in the Dynamips forum as well.

I ever had this problem when connecting routers with GNS "Ethernet switch" (Layer 2).
After i saved it, i cannot load it anymore. Then i have to redo all network and connect the routers directly to each other.

Ok. I'll try build my own.
Section 1 is stop at CSC.
When the rest (Bridging&Switching, MPLS TE, Misc) will be out ?
AndiS
You can use those IOS images but you need to edit the .net file to match them with whatever you’re using. The one I created is using the following image names:
c3725-adventerprisek9_ivs-mz.124-15.T13.EXTRACTED.bin
c7200-advipservicesk9-mz.122-33.SRE3.EXTRACTED.bin
Unless this matches *exactly* to what you have on your machine the .net file will fail to load.

Hi Brain,
Thanks, directories & IOS images are adjusted according my setup, plus I reinstalled the latest version of Gns3, its working fine now.
Thanks once again
Hi
Have u got any solution for nonexistant device , BCZ i am also getting same error and i am using same IOS u HAVE MENTIONED
c7200-adventerprisek9-mz.122-33.SRE2.bin
c3725-adventerprisek9-mz.124-15.T10.bin
Is there any seperate IOS for SW1 & SW2 is used in INE.CCIE.SPv3.Lab.Workbook.GNS3.net
I think nonexistent device error means that it didn’t start the hypervisor process that the router/switch is trying to use. Check the .net file to see what the hypervisors are and ports they’re using.

Thanks alot for the new curriculum.
Whats the best way to incorporate a "real" ME3400 into my dynamips lab so
that I can do the SPv3 1.1 excercise (bridging and switching).
I have a spare 3400 but am not sure how to go about connecting to my dynamips server ethernet interfaces.
ie. E2/2 = NIO_linux_eth:eth1
thanks in advance
I personally haven’t done this before, but lots of people have. Check this thread and other similar ones for more information: http://ieoc.com/forums/t/18754.aspx?PageIndex=1
In reality though if you already know Catalyst IOS Switching, ME3400 is very similar minus a few minor differences. Probably less than 5% of ATC class and Workbook focus on the ME3400 specifics.

Hi Brian,
The hardware specs for the SP3 topology shows that the 7204VXR router need 265/32 RAM/Flash.
However the software recomended requires at least 512/64 DRAM/Flash as mentioned in Cisco's website!
http://www.ine.com/INE.CCIE.SPv3.Hardware.Specification.pdf
Can you confirm that please? or can you recomend any lower IOS that will cover all fearures in the workbook?
Regards,
Mohammad
The mem/flash from the Cisco site is a recomandation, it's not the minimum. It depends on what features you will be using.
I remember i started with a low value (128M i think) and when i got to bgp+vpn+te+mcast+ipv6, all broke, so i upgraded to 256 and worked.
Cheers
Ciprian
As long as you’re not running production level features, like taking the full Internet routing table, then it’s fine. The image will still boot with lower memory, it’s just that it’s not “officially” supported without the higher memory. E.g. if you submit a TAC case they’ll tell you to upgrade memory first.
