OER: Redistribute conditional static route ?

Topology : MC  ---- BR   ----2 exit to ---- Internet

Border Router:

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 <exit A>

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 <exit B>

OSPF> Redistribute static route-map <OER>

route-map <OER>

    match tag 5000

    set metric -x

Question : How this conditional redistribution of static route work with Master Controller ?

If the traffic class is Out of Policy then the MC send traffic claass with tag 5000(default) to BR then BR redistribute the static route ?

  • Since in your design the BR is the only exit point there isn't a need to
redistribute the static route into your IGP. Redistribution of the
static is needed when you have more than one BR or when you want to
inform the internal routers about the new exit point for the traffic class.

  • Brian

So we should have this topology to make it more sense:

    Topology : MC  ---- BR1   -------- ISP-1

                          -----BR2   -------- ISP-2

    BR1:

    ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 <ISP1>

    OSPF> Redistribute static route-map <OER>

    route-map <OER>

        match tag 5000

        set metric -x

    BR2:

    ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 <ISP2>

    OSPF> Redistribute static route-map <OER>

    route-map <OER>

        match tag 5000

        set metric -x

Question : How this conditional redistribution of static route work with Master Controller ?

If the traffic class is Out of Policy then the MC send traffic claass with tag 5000(default) to BR then BR redistribute the static route ?

Can help explain the mechanism ? Thanks !
