The question is asking to use a hash of 16 bytes. 16 bytes * 8 is 128 bit. I selected md5; however, the answer selected sha. Isn't this incorrect? Sha is 160 bits. Please clarify
I don't have lab here so I can't check the question right now but I can confirm:
MD5: Algorithm that produces a 128-bit hash SHA1: Algorithm that produces a 160-bit hash
Question asking for 160-bits or 16 bytes? If question asking for 16 bytes, your answer is correct.
MD5 should be correct..
However, I do remember reading on some book that IPSec uses only 128-bits of SHA-1 in order to keep it standard with MD5, so even though SHA-1 is 160-bit, IPSec will essentially use only 128-bits. I can't recall where I saw that information, so if someone could confirm this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks..
I went through the series of books but I could not find this. If you remember the documentation, let me know but as much I know SHA-1 is 160 bits n same bits using for IPSEC.
