Deep Dive Module 7: can we get Connected (Called) Party name

Hello,

In Module 7 (which covers CUCM --SIP/PRI-- PSTN, CUCM --H323/PRI-- PSTN and CUCM --MGCP/PRI-- PSTN) I could not see any discussion on getting the Connected Party Name to display on the Callers phone.

In all cases we are able to see the Calling Name and the Calling Number at the called phone, but the calling phone only sees the number (not the name) that it dialed.

I've searched and searched but couldn't find mention of this; then I came over

http://www.voiceie.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=8;t=002800

where under the CONNECT state, the Called Party is suppose to return its name , e,g,

*Nov 22 10:21:39.851: ISDN Se0/0/0:15 Q931: RX <- CONNECT pd = 8 callref = 0x8099

Display i = 'HQ Phone 2'10

However when working through Module 7 I never got the Called/Connected party name to display at the caller. (I tried every combination of "isdn outgoing ie XXXX" /

isdn supp-serv name calling)

During Mark's video, the calling phone doesn't seem to get it's display updated  with called name.

Now when I set up a PRI-less trunk:  CIPC -- CME1 -- H323 -- CME2 -- IP Phone, the Calling phone almost immediately gets updated with the Called Party Name during ringback.

Can I replicate this with PRI?

  • Hi Mustang,

CONP is something that is supported in an MGCP controlled PRI tunneling Q.SIG, but that is not a combination any carrier is likely to provide you with.
