2.4 eigrp bw percent

Any clue why the SG configures the "ip bandwidth-percent eigrp" command on the physical interface? Layer 3 config is on the Multilink interface which makes me think that "ip bandwidth-percent eigrp" should be configured there too. BTW is there any verification command for "ip bandwidth-percent eigrp"? " sh ip eigrp interfaces detail" doesn't show much.

  • I believe that is an error, you need it on the multilink interface also.

  • The only visible parameter i know of being dependent on the percentage of interface bandwidth EIGRP can use is the pacing timer (from show ip eigrp neighbors). Try to put the ip bandwidth-percent command first on physical, note the pacing timer value, reset eigrp adjacency, notice the new value. Remove it from the physical and add it to the logical, perform the same test. Let us know the results :)

    You are correct that EIGRP uses the pacing timer derived from the bandwidth-percent value. The command to show it is show ip eigrp interface. The default is to use 50% of bandwidth but we have specified 25%. This means that pacing timer will be 31 ms. If we change back to default 50% then the pacing timer is set to 15 ms. If we change the bandwitdh-percent on the physical interface it has no effect. Look at the output below.

    So the conclusion is that assuming that the command should be applied on the logical interface is correct. This is verified with the show ip eigrp interface command.
