1.16 Cannot enter ‘encapsulation dot1Q 14’ on R1.

AS the solution indicates, this task needs to set R1.

It says;

int fa0/0

 no sh

int fa 0/0.14

 enc dot1Q 14

 ip add 14.0.0.1 255.255.255.0

.

Here is my question.

How can we enter this?

enc dot1Q 14

.

My R1 is 2610XM, as they specified.

However, ‘enc ?’ does not indicate dot1Q option.

By any chance, is this because the matter of IOS?

Mine is 12.2(32).

IEWB demands 12.4(10)A.

The feature set in your IOS apparently does not support trunking on the FastEthernet ports.

You can use the feature navigator at: http://tools.cisco.com/ITDIT/CFN/jsp/index.jsp to see which features are supported by your IOS version, compare versions, etc.
