2.2 redistribute on R6 - mistake in sg


When redistributing on R6, if we follow SG, in the eigrp topology there will be no 183.x.6.0/24 network, since it is redistributed into OSPF, and will not be re-redistributed into eigrp by "redistribute ospf" command.

So we need to redistribute connected with route-map :

route-map xxx

 match int fa0/1

to make sure this network will figure in eigrp topology. But this will filter out 183.x.46.0/24 from the eigrp database, since we explicitly limit redistribution of connected routes to eigrp.

so at the end, we need to do

router eigrp 10

 redistribute connected route-map xxx

route-map xxx

 match int fa0/1 fa0/0

To make it work correctly.



  • If we follow the workbook's solution, the subnet 183.x.6.0/24 will not be advertised to BB1. Thus, Hosts on the subnet 183.x.6.0/24 cannot reach BB1's networks as shown in the output of the ping source fastEthernet 0/1 command.

    Rack1R6#ping source fastEthernet 0/1

    Type escape sequence to abort.
    Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to, timeout is 2 seconds:

    Since full IP reachability is not a requirement dor this task, the SG configuration is correct.

  • Thinking on the lab, you will be told if you need full rechability in your POD, including backbone routers. If however you do not find this information in the lab guidance, speak with the procotor for clarification. Otherwise for this lab, it is good you figured out how you can still achieve full IP reachability.
