  • Hi Prakashgowda,

That would depend on a number of factors:

    <![if !supportLists]>1.
    <![endif]>Experience level with technologies

    <![if !supportLists]>2.
    <![endif]>Current work environment

    <![if !supportLists]>3.
<![endif]>Equipment you can get your hands on

    <![if !supportLists]>4.
    <![endif]>Job prospects in your area?

    <![if !supportLists]>5.
<![endif]>What technology interests you the most? Doing something you don’t
like won’t be much fun J

    Cheers,

    -Aaron.

  • IMHO... This is all step by step approach anyways. Like to go for SP you need to have good understanding of all R&S topics...thats why people go for SP after R&S. Few who goes directly for SP usually have good SP background. There are few things from R&S and SP which are not common though but still just 20-30% only. Also New SP is much more real world compare to old one like VPLS, More IPv6, IOS XR which I am pretty sure you can't do without read world exp with those since this things except IPv6 can't be done on GNS.

As far CCDE goes... pretty hard to get it without knowledge of CCIE R&S, SP along with tons of readings about design stuff. I personally feel to face this Giant you should have 10+ years of quality exp or else you should be exceptional people like Petr, Scott and Brian ;-)

  • Deepak/Aaron,

I have 4+ years of experience with Cisco Core routers on IGPs ,BGP,  VPNs , MPLS .

I have been working basically on SP issues. The basic dilemma in my mind was whether to do R&S (fine tune my basics)

& then go to SP or directly go for SP.

Looks like a step by step approach is better.

Thanks a lot for your valuable comments.
