EIGRP neighbor drops - R5 & SW2

I get this message between R5 fa0/0 and SW2 vlan 58:

%EIGRP: Failed to get client handle from BFD

and then EIGRP neighbors drop then eventually reconverge.

This is using the given multicast intial configs.

I've looked at the configs, debugs, etc but I still don't see the issue.

This is on Dynamips with real switches. SW2 is a 3560-24TS with 12.2.55 IP services.

  • Do you have BFD enabled?  I’ve heard before that dynamips does not support this.

  • I've gone into router eigrp and entered

    "no bfd all-interfaces"

    but the error continues. So I can't turn off BFD?

  • I got similar issue with EIGRP on IRB so I changed the hello and the hold timer just to solve the flapping neighbor for this particular case.

  • I had the same issue on Dynamips.

    I concluded this issue is related to the UDP port conflict of the machine running Dynamips. Dynamips doesn't show anything even the udp is already used by another software. It may be fixed by rebooting the PC also.

    I checked using portviewer but it is Japanese free soft.

    So I modified tcp and udp port on the .net file for the dynagen. I am also running 4 dynamips to solve memory error.

    ----

    [localhost:6200]
     udp = 30000

     [[3725]]

      ram = 192

    ...

    [localhost:6201]
     udp = 30100

     [[3725]]

      ram = 192

    ...

    [localhost:6202]
     udp = 30200

     [[3725]]

      ram = 192

    ...

    [localhost:6203]
     udp = 30300

     [[3725]]

      ram = 192

    ...

  • I am getting the same message only this is not on GNS, I have the gear isshow below, did this problem ever get resolved?

    Thanks in advance.

  • I know this is old but, if it helps anyone, we just had this issue happening on real kit, between 3750s ... This was over a Metro VPN and only affecting one site. In the end, we replaced the kit and so far, no problems - but it has only been a day. We had this issue starting suddently so we are still puzzled as to why it happened in the first place and why is it affecting one site only.

    1. Bug ?? - maybe; but why did it start suddenly?

    2. Configuration ??? not really; BFD is not enabled; besides, other sites would be having the same issue since the config is identical

    3. Hardware - well... replacing the kit will tell us soon enough.
