QoS

Hello Everybody,

I would like to know is there a lab setup for the QoS studies from INE. If yes than from where I can get the topology diagram and the hardware specification.

Many Thanks

  • QOS is something you need specific topologies to test. In short QOS is all about Verification because there are few restriction (not easy) with emulating QOS test bed for example congestion or congestion at Hardware Queue etc. Though I am not sure if QOS COD from INE is designed around some specific topology but of course INE vol 1 for R&S has got QOS Section which is over 400 pages of lab and theory stuff as I heard.

But that will be little too much for CCIP. Also you can refer Lab Student Guide Manual for labs  from Knowledge Net.

  • Hello,

One can use VNUML+Dynamips On Linux Server for Qos Labs (like congestion management, shaping, policing...). For traffic generator one can use ping flood or write simple TCP/UDP socket programs.

    Thanks and Regards,

  • As I mentioned its little hard to generate dummy traffic but not impossible. IP SLA is much easier way to generate dumy traffic and of course you can set up application servers inside vmware and than integrate those with your GNS network.

  • Hey Deepak,

I have you in my Skype since your last post. But I never see you online.

Please let me know your timings.

  • Hi Mahir,

I was going through some health issues and hoping to resume normal life back soon. Will catch you soon.

  • Ive been using dynagen on an Ubuntu server.  So far I've been able to class and mark my traffic.  I use HPING3 to generate traffic to a tap interface.  If you use serial links, you should be able to overdrive them fairly easy.  I can put out 3Mbps via HPING3, which is sufficient for serial links.

  • Hi Mahir,

I am pretty much back after a long break. You can ping me over gtalk any time - [email protected]
