Multicast source redundancy in case of PIM SM

Hi Team,

 

It been while to ask question agian in this forum.

In case of PIM SM if we have multiple source generating multicast traffic for same group then what are the options do I have?

  • In case of :

    1) using PIMv2 bootstrap , then you can change the priority of the RPs to set the redundancy accordingly

    command :

    Router(config)#ip pim rp-candidate loopback 0 priority ?
      <0-255>  Priority value

     

    2) in case of Auto-RP ,it will chosse the RP with the highest IP...then you can set the active one with a Higher loopback address

     

    meanwhile, if you want to load share then Anycast RP will help you
