7.2 Telnet Control

Hi,

Since we enable aaa new-model, we would probably want to apply login authentication NO_AUTH to con0 as well :)

  • Hi,

I just disabled login for the VTYs and it seems to be working, is this valid? Or is this just a fluke?

    Rack1R6#sh run | s line vty
    line vty 0 4
     password cisco
     no login
     length 0
     transport output none
    Rack1R6#150.1.6.6
    Trying 150.1.6.6 ... Open

    ################################################
    ##########  AS 100 Route View Server  ##########
    # Use this device to view the Internet Routing #
    #     table from the perspective of AS 100     #
    ################################################

    Thanks,

    Jorge

  • I configured with "banner motd" and disabled login on line vty, it seems working.  Comment?

    Rack1R6#sh run | b line vty
    line vty 0 4
     no login
     transport output none

    Rack1R5#telnet 150.1.6.6
    Trying 150.1.6.6 ... Open

    # Use this device to veirw the Internet routing ###########
    # table from the perspective of AS 100 ################

  • Seems to work fine w/o AAA configuration. Plus it is a simpler solution.

Agree with you, we can get locked out of the router if we don't apply it to console as well as.

This is simple and straight forward solution for this task.

  • is it really neccessary to enable aaa and then set the login to no auth.

my solution was to create the banner and simply remove login from line vty and it did the trick

  • AAA is not necessary for this task in my opinion. It works just fine without it.
