9.19 OSPFv3 Virtual Links

I am unable to get my virtual-link established. When reloading SW1 I noticed the following error:

%OSPFv3-4-NO_GLOBAL_ADDR: Could not select a global IPv6 address. Virtual links require at least one global IPv6 address.

I only found two hits on google and they both said to configure a global IPV6 address. I did that and the virtual link does not establish.

Debugs do not yield anything useful that I saw.

I upgraded my Switch code today to 12.2(46)SE because EIGRP was not supported in the code I had. I don't know if this is related.

Any advice is appreciated,

Vin

  • I put code 12.2(44)SE on as that's what INE has on their site. http://www.ine.com/resources/ccierack.htm

That did not help at all.

  • Well... I found the issue.

    R3 int fa0/0:

    ip ospf network point-to-point
    vs.
    ipv6 ospf network point-to-point

The neighbor came up (surprisingly!!) and there were entries in the ospf database but there were no routes in the ipv6 routing table.

    Moral: WATCH THAT SYNTAX!
