12.12 Telnet service options

Hi all,

It seems like we can accomplish the same as "ip telnet hidden addresses" with "service hide-telnet-address".

    I thought TOS is 96.  Here is my calculation:

    IP Prec of 3:

    Binary = 0 1 1

                 4 2 1

    Tos

    0      1  1  0   0 0 0 0

    128 64 32 16  8 4 2 1

    = ip tos 96

    However, follow the verifcation steips in SG, I got "IP Precedence value : 4" as shown below:

    ack1R3#sh tcp tcb 66D6FFC0 ?

    Anyone can help to clarify?

  • ip telnet tos 60 is corect in VOL 1 ....that is equivalent to ip precednce 3...

    here how u gonna do ...make sure u use ur calculator...:)

    precednce 3= 24 DSCP .... 24*4 = 96 as u did...but in telnet TOS is in HEX format ...

    open ur calc decimal 96 == 60...i think u might think ehy i didn't checked with ? ...

    make ur router ur guide by using this  funny ? .::)))

  • Thanks, good catch!  Decimal to HEX conversion......

  • TOS 60 came in following manner,

    Ip precedence 3 means 0110 0000

    conversion in hex        0110 gives 6 and 0000 gives 0 so TOS in HEX gives 60.

    Hope this helps..

  • The question only asks us to hide the IP address.. NOT the hostname.

    As such, I would have thought "ip telnet quit" would have been corrent, not "ip telnet hidden address" as the solution guide gives?

    The task also asks us "Do not display any telnet informational messages" which requires "ip telnet quiet"
