redistribution question

Guys,

Is there any difference in redistribution when you ...

1.
int F0/0
ip address 100.1.1.1 255.255.255.0

redistribute connected metric 1000 100 255 1 1500 route-map CONN

ip access-list standard CONN
permit 100.1.1.0

route-map CONN permit 10
match ip address CONN

0r

2.
int F0/0
ip address 100.1.1.1 255.255.255.0

redistribute connected metric 1000 100 255 1 1500 route-map CONN

route-map CONN permit 10
match interface f0/0

or is just that the second option uses less commands ...

    both options accomplish the same thing. I like matching interfaces because you're less prone to making errors. [:)]

  • This does accomplish the same thing but you also have to keep in mind other connected interfaces. by matching only one interface/IP you are implicitly denying all others. It will affect the routes if you are also doing mutual redistribution between two protocols on the same router. It will mess up some of the connected routes coming from other protocol.   • One big difference is also that with the latter you match the interface, no matter if you'll have to change your IP addressing or anything. In the production environment the two examples can make a huge difference, but in the lab it's all the same.
