EIGRP - FD and offset-list
in CCNP General
Hi guys, if I have a FD of 2175232 on a successor route, and another RD is identical on another "potential" route, then the potential cannot be a feasible successor, as the values are equal. If I add an offset list (for a previously creatred ACL) that has a value of 3 so that the FD on the successor becomes 2175235 and the RD stays at 2175232 then the adjustment creates a solution where I have a valid feasible successor, aiding quick(er) convergence.
My question here is.....I had to run "clear ip eigrp neighbour" to actually see this change. Is this normal or would I expect my offset-list implementation to be pre-emptive?
Thanks
Dean

Clearing neighborship is just a quick way do make things work in lab. Otherwise after Hold Down Timer expiration period the changes should appear itself.
