Lab 3, Task 8.2

As per the SG, 'police cir 256000' cmd is configured, so instead of that cmd, can i use 'police 256000' only? Correct me if I am wrong, as per my undersatdning from previous labs, if the traffic exceed the 256000 then it will be droped automatically (as per theory).

Also, whats the difference b/w 'police cir 256000' cmd and 'police 256000' cmd? or both are same? I would appreciate if someone clarify. Thanks

  • Hmmm, the police and police CIR give the same output in show policy-map interface command so as far as I'm concerned they are the same, same CIR, same BC, same conform action and same exceed action.

The requirement was to limit to 256K and that's what both of the commands do. If there some subtle difference it's lost on me :)
