3.17 (CLOSED) OER Apply Policy Phase Type

    Locked Contact

    Hello

In the solution of 3.17 on page 97 the "Note" says " At this point, policy has been applied but the route mode is set to control by default." This should be "...but the route mode is set to observe by default." based on Cisco's documentation "OER, by default, operates in an observation mode and the documentation for the OER learn, measure, and apply policy phases assumes that OER is in the observe mode." from http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/oer/configuration/guide/oer-trf_rte_ctl_ps6441_TSD_Products_Configuration_Guide_Chapter.html#wp1054037

    Regards,

    Tom

Re: 3.17 OER Apply Policy Phase Type

    Hi,

I found some incongruences in this solution as well. On page 85 the second task states that "OER should generate an OOP event once any link utilization exceeds 80%". But on page 95 this is mentioned as 60%, however the config shows 80%. I take it this is a typo.

In the third task it says "Any acceptable exit point should have relative loss of no higher that 3%", on page 95 this is restated as 25%. How is this value reached when no short term/long term values are mentioned? Configuration shows this set as 25.

The last task on page 85 states "After an OOP event, the traffic class should stick to the new exit for no less than 10 minutes" but on page 95 this is restated as 6 minutes and the config is holddown 360. Is it 10 minutes or are the 6 mins derived from the other timers? in the show oer master policy output the backoff timer is set to 90 500 90 i.e. not the default value of 300. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/oer/command/reference/oer_02.html#wp1028010

Do I understand it correctly that the total possible time that a TC will be stuck to a new exit link is: holddown+backoff+periodic timers? in this task 360+90+180=630 secs or 10,5 mins.

    Thanks,

    Niels

Yea the explanation on this task is not good or correct at all.

Task states "Ensure periodic re-optimization occurs every minimal time interval" and the solution says to set the periodic timer to 180, as this is the minimal value.

However, in the CLI you can go down all the way to 90 seconds.  So shouldnt it be 90 seconds??

Another point states "After an OOP event, the traffic class should retain the new exit for no less than 10 minutes".  But the solution shows 6 minutes, with the command "holddown 360".

For your point about the "relative loss of no higher thant 3%" the answer shoule be "loss relative 30"; but the solution shows "loss relative 25".  To calculate this you take 3% of 1000, which is 30.  If you look at CLI with command "?" it explains that.

INE, please work on correcting the solutions on this task.
