    Re: CCNP Class-on-Demand Now Available!

    Hi,

    I have just purchesed the CCNP CoD. I bought this mostly as reference material as I have completed the BSCI, BCMSN and ISCW already. I was a little disappointed to see that there is only 3 classes for the ONT exam as part of this CoD(as this is what I am currently studying), is there any intention to add the extra detailed topics of;

  • ONT- QoS Configuration
  • BCMSN - Layer 2 QoS
  • BCMSN - Wireless Client Access
  • ONT - Wireless Security
  • ONT - Wireless Configuration
  • ONT - Wireless QoS
  • Other than that the material given as part of this CoD seems great!

    Cheers

    Hi!

I inquired about this too.  I am pretty sure Brian said that those particular videos had audio issues and he has to re-record those, but I would wait for an official answer from him on this.

Good luck with finishing up your CCNP.  I still have 3 tests to go.

Yes, they will all be available by the end of next week.  Also I should have a beta release of the CCNP Lab Workbook available by Monday at the latest.

    Thanks!

The first beta release of our CCNP Lab Workbook is now posted for all customers of the CCNP Bootcamp Class-on-Demand.  A sample of it can be viewed here. Current customers can find the workbook on the CCNP Bootcamp Class-on-Demand page of the INE Members Site.

Currently the workbook covers BCMSN.  Within the coming week it will be incrementally updated with the lab content for BSCI, ISCW, and ONT.  There is a timestamp on the members site page that you use to access the workbook, so make sure to take note of this as there will be a large amount of updates in a small amount of time coming shortly.  The current outline of the BCMSN section is as follows:

    • VLANs
    • Access Ports
    • ISL Trunk Ports
    • 802.1Q Trunk Ports
    • Controlling Traffic over Trunk Ports
    • VLAN Trunk Protocol (VTP)
    • VTP Pruning
    • VTP Transparent Mode
    • Spanning-Tree Protocol
    • Rapid PVST+
    • Multiple Spanning-Tree Protocol
    • Spanning-Tree Protocol Features
    • EtherChannel
    • Inter-VLAN Routing

Not to complain to you about your work Brian (as my major complaints are with the marketing of the products), but I am quite disappointed with INE on my first purchase of their training products. I paid good money ( my own money, and I'm out of work atm ) for this product, for which is in complete... Mind you, nowhere in the description did it say it was incomplete.

I have already completed BCMSN, and BSCI. Honestly, I mainly purchased the product to help with my ONT studies, and with the hope I would be able to knock out the two exams this month. When 1/2 the videos for ONT were missing along with the workbook, I decided to switch gears to ISCW. Figured it would be easier for me anyway since it is not completely theory. Now, when the workbook is released, two days after it was told to us that it would be, it is misisng ONT and ISCW...

I'm seriously starting to wonder what I have gotten myself into. The word on the street is that this is par for the course for INE... That makes me worry.

    Hi Tony,

Did you already go through all the ISCW videos and try out all the examples that I demoed during class?

    Re: CCNP Class-on-Demand Now Available!

    Hi Tony,

All the marketing material for the class said and still says that the workbook availability is October, and so far I'm hitting that target. Our development and release process is different than some other training companies you may have dealt with in the past.

First and foremost, we develop all of our content in house.  While this may not seem like a big deal to some, it boils down to the difference between a cookie-cutter Cisco Learning Partner like Global Knowledge and us. The CLPs buy their content from someone else, and then employ a contract instructor who many times ends up being a professional powerpoint slide reader.  With INE on the other hand, I personally developed the courseware that I delivered, and am personally developing the workbook.  This means that if you have questions about it, you are only one degree removed from me.  The CLPs generally have no outlet for interaction with the class instructors, other than the few days you are actually in the class, nor do they offer post class support or interaction with any of the content authors.

The second important difference is our Investment Protection Program.  When you take a class from a CLP, you get your course kit and your 5-day training, and then you are out the door.  If the exams are updated and the course content gets updated, you're not going to get these updates from the CLP unless you buy the class again.  Part of this stems from the previous problem I mentioned; the CLP didn't develop the courseware in the first place, they just bought it from someone else.  With INE on the other hand, we understand that many customers, like yourself, are not large corporations that have multi-million dollar training budgets, and hence it doesn't make sense to ask you to keep buying the same product over and over.

Our IPP says that if the exam content changes - more often read as when, not if - you get the new updates to the courseware or workbooks or whatever for FREE.  This stems from our leadership in the CCIE training space, in which the CCIE Lab Exam changes every 18-24 months or so, but many engineers take years in order to prepare.  This means that if you use a CLP for this training, and you don't finish the certification before it changes, you are basically SOL and you have to re-invest in training or content again in order to continue.  The point is that when you take training from us, we are in it together for the long haul.

In order for us to offer this, our content release process has, and always will be, incremental.  For example with the first beta release of the CCNP Lab Workbook, I announced that the date would be Monday, because I knew I could hit that target (within a few days at least ;) ) with the content that was ready for release, specifically the BCMSN portion.  If you compare this to the CLP program or Cisco Press, whose development cycle is on average 12-18 months, there's no way they can compete.  For example there are still no official Cisco Press books for the CCSP exams out, because many times they understand that their development cycle isn't feasible in a case like that.

All in all, if time is of the essence for passing ISCW and ONT in your case, go through the videos, take notes on every example that I do on the CLI and the SDM, and try it out yourself.  The hardware spec for all exams is the same one that I posted in the workbook, and the same one that I used during the class.  The CCNP Lab Workbook is essentially a culmination of these exercises that I already demoed in class, just in a more concise and easier to follow format.

Either way the CCNP Lab Workbook will automatically be updated in an incremental fashion as I complete it, and posted on the members site.  Next will be BSCI, followed shortly by ISCW and ONT.  The missing ONT recordings will also be posted soon; this was due to an unrelated server issue, so I have to re-record them.

As always please feel free to contact me here or directly via email if you have questions or comments.

    Thanks,

I have attended this bootcamp and I can confirm that we had Server Issue when Brian was doing ONT class. As he assured you in detail and he also mentioned about CCSP books, which is true. I did CCSP last year and it is still nightmare to find up to date books. Cisco Press haven't released books for SNAF, SNAA and IPS exams yet. They have NO plan to publish them too. Luckily you aren't following CCSP path but you have ton of information available for CCNP. In the mean time, just check out INE Blog, which is wealth of great information. If you happend to be interested in CCSP then I can assure you INE will bring something on table before Cisco Press will do! :)

How can you knock down two exams in month?? unless you really have super brain or may be I am getting too old for study. :) In my view BSCI alone takes atleast couple of months. If you have any good study method then please share with us. :)

    I hope it helps!

    Cheers

    Riz

    Re: CCNP Class-on-Demand Now Available!

    Hi  Brian

Waiting for the other videos . I was going through the Diffserv theory part and found the config video missing . Super material Brian . Wonderful narration which  makes this arcane topic interesting and easy to follow.  I am waiting for the other video  and the related document so that I can solidify my knowledge.

Thanks for all the effort . The product is worth every penny

Thanks once again and desperately waiting for the missing material  :)

    Re: CCNP Class-on-Demand Now Available!

    Hey Riz !

Honestly, I've been doing this stuff for years. Not full time with Cisco though... I decided this spring to start working on some certifications to make myself more valuable, and to be able to show something for the knowledge I have. I studied for 2 weeks, got my CCNA, 2 weeks later, I took the composite exam for BSCI, and BCMSN. I started studying on the ONT, but got behind with work for a few months. Now I'm back on track.

Since the ONT content is delayed, I switched to ISCW last week (maybe weekend before.. ) and I'm going to take that exam early next week. Then switch back onto the ONT exam. I just hope the content is ready by then...

    Thanks,

    -Tony

    Hi All

If you check your member's account then you can see two videos have been added in

the ONT part. The only videos which are missing are the wireless one's.
