    router-id for ipv6 eigrp question

    Based on Cisco ducumentation, an EIGRP for IPv6 protocol instance requires a router ID before it can start running.

    But when I tested this, ipv6 eigrp runs without router-id configured.

    R1

    ipv6 unicast-routing

    interface Loopback0
     ip address 1.1.1.1 255.255.255.255
     ipv6 address 2001:1111::1/64
     ipv6 enable
     ipv6 eigrp 10
    !
    interface Ethernet0/0
     no ip address
     ipv6 address 2001:1212::1/64
     ipv6 enable
     ipv6 eigrp 10

    ipv6 router eigrp 10

    Re: router-id for ipv6 eigrp question

    The show ip address 192.168.1.1 eigrp command shows the content of the IPv6 routing table that includes the routes specific to EIGRP.
