    Re: passed :)

Thanks guys. I was relaxing so didn't give the detailed information yet.

As you may have known, the OEQ is really challenging, the lab part was OK.

To prepare OEQ, I have read a couple of books and tons of CCO documents, the books include <mpls fundamentals>, <mpls configurations on cisco IOS software>, <routing tcp/ip v1 & v2>, but I would say, this isn't enough, you got to read some layer 1 and 2 stuff as well. I was asked some bits/bytes stuff, timers, design/understanding stuff and one layer 1/2 question. right after I came out from the lab, I realized I had one wrong, but luckily I nailed down the other 3 correctly.

since this is not my first attemp, the lab part wasn't bad to me, after i finished the lab, I had about 3 and half hours left (with 2 tasks that I wasn't sure), so I took about 2 hours to verify everything, and another 30 minutes to fix one of the 2 lefts. The last one I just couldn't know how to do it. I actually practiced some similar situation, but the lab was asking me to do that in a strange way. This one affects the remaining tasks in that section, so I finally decided to give it up and make it work in my favorite way, thus I lost this task but the remainings in that section went well.

when I had 30 minutes left to the end, I knew I just couldn't figure that one task out, but I was pretty confident to the other question, then I decided leave the lab and take a rest (I didn't sleep well the night before).

The result came out very fast, I guess my lab was graded in another country. the result doesn't say how much score I have for each section it just says "PASS". This is the only track that I am interested, I am not sure if I want to go through the other tracks in the future, but at this point, I need to go back to the normal work for a while coz I have too many things lined up.

the last thing i want to say is, the OEQ isn't non-sense, but just a little too detailed, as i said before, remembering the protocol ID of L2TPv3 is OK, but if you have to remember hundreds of this kind of things, that's not fun.

wish all of you the best and get CCIE SP done, OEQ isn't something that cisco wants to kill you, that really forces you to read more and understand the technologis better.

    Bo,

Great write-up. The score report will only show PASS - no percentages unless you fail.

Glad to hear more about the OEQs - I still need to take the SP Written Exam, but may be ready for the lab in about a year or so.

    Enjoy your success!Cool

    Re: passed :)

That's great Bo! I'm scheduled next week March 25 for my SP test. I was already paid for and locked in for the test, then they put the OEQs on it. So, I've been reading like mad. I'm fairly sure I can pass the lab part itself, just worried about the OEQs. I also believe I'm reading so much now that I'm not retaining as much as I can read. Hopefully I'll get questions of something that I remembered from all this reading. It's mainly all of the bits/byte sizes of items that I can't remember. Even in the real world, most engineers don't remember what packet sizes are what. You can look it up.

Without breaking NDA, are those OEQs detailed and specific? For instance, they can ask you what the specific size of a packet of a particular protocol is?
